New Children at Sunflower Home
Gabriel1
We have 3 new darling children at our Sunflower home who need sponsors: Wini, Sila and Gabriel. They were delivered by the Fiscalia (government agency) just last week.

Little Gabriel, shown above, was photographed shortly after arriving at the Sunflower home and being fed.  As you can tell, he is going to love the dental group going down in June!

All these children are from the valley of Ccosñipata Country, near the Manu jungle, but were found in terrible condition begging and sleeping in the streets of Cusco. Police collected the children then sent them to the public Prosecutor who in turn gave legal custody to Southern Cross.

For more information about each child please go to
www.sxhu.org and look under Sponsor-A-Child.

Tickets are only $5 on-line pre-sale, buy 10 and
get a chance for a Free Expedition. (Does not include international airfare.  Need not be present to win.)

with No Cost to You!

· Register your Albertsons Preferred Customer card with Southern Cross Humanitarian as your charity.  By doing so, Albertsons will donate 1-3% of all your purchases to Southern Cross.  This is a fundraiser where small amounts by many people can truly make a big difference.
All we need is name, address, phone# & Preferred Card#, please email to Ken@sxhu.org
We'll also soon have a registration form on our website and you can ask friends, neighbors, relatives and co-workers to support Southern Cross by registering their Albertson's cards at no cost to them.  One nice benefit is: this will give you an opportunity to talk to others about Southern Cross.

We have set an initial goal of 500 supporters, please help us get there.  This is also a great service project for high school and church youth groups: to register people in front of a local Albertsons store - for more information contact Ken@sxhu.org.

· Women from Three Steeples sunflower quiltUnited Methodist Church in Champlain, NY have donated their time and talents toward making this lovely sunflower quilt.  For every $10.00 a person donates to SXHU, their name goes in the a "thank you" drawing for The Sunflower Quilt.

· Gary and Kaylene Chambers of Las Vegas Nevada have organized a Humanitarian focused fireside for May 6th.  Van Evans will be speaking on why we serve and our Sunflower home.  Those of you in the Las Vegas area who would like to help spread the word, please contact kaylene@chambersmania.com.

· "A Night for the Children", fundraising dinner in Los Gatos, CA, is on May 18th. Everyone is invited for a BBQ, bingo with amazing raffle, entertainment, and our famous dessert fountain!  All those in the Bay Area who want more information please contact
laura@sxhu.org.

· GoodSearch is free for you to use and gives Southern Cross Humanitarian a penny a search.  It truly adds up.  If each person reading this newsletter did two searches a day we could sponsor a child.  See directions below.

If you are interested in doing some sort of fundraising event in your area, or having a fireside or presentation to create awareness, please contact Laura@sxhu.org.  We have a fundraising packet and will be happy to assist you in any way possible.

· Club Yahoo, a volleyball club for girls in the San Jose, California area was just recently featured in the Prep Volleyball national newsletter, as a volleyball club that cares.  The team sponsors a child at the Sunflower and sent school kits with the December Expedition as well as Club Yahoo uniforms for the kids.  Some of the families are now considering an expedition to the Sunflower.

· Rick Wilson, President of Mediatechnics Systems, Inc., has generously donated his time and equipment to provide Southern Cross with new DVD's.  Anyone needing a DVD of the Sunflower home including what SXHU is all about, please contact us.  Thank you Rick!

· Quinn Brady, of Cupertino, CA, might be driving past you someday with his new SXHU.org license plate!  If you see him, HONK!  He went to the DMV just last week to pick up his customized plates.  Thanks Quinn!

· Gene Greggerson and his daughter Zoe from Boston, MA, read about the Chavez family at the Sunflower home.  As a result, Zoe told her dad she wanted to donate money for her birthday to help. Thank you to this father and daughter team!
